Angelo Galasso News
THE POLSO OROLOGIO SHIRT
A ANGELO GALASSO shirt is manufactured entirely by hand, adhering to craftsmanship and knowledge of the Italian artisans. Fabric selection, sewing technique and assembly procedure reflect the time-honoured traditions and highly mastered skills. Once the fabric has passed quality control, it is pre-shrunk by undergoing a steaming process, thus avoiding excessive shrinkage, and is then laid out ready for the cutting. The same meticulousness is applied to the accessories, selected according to design, style requirements and personal specifications. The shirt is constructed using a technique from old sewing machines – 10 stitches to the centimetre, as opposed to only 7 stitches of an industrially produced shirt. The penultimate buttonhole is always horizontal, resulting in a streamlined look. The cuff is 12 cm long with the internal lining made of pure cotton, specially strengthened to avoid creasing. To ensure the collar lies flat against the collarbone, the interlinings are glued and four collar stiffeners are sewn in, providing support and creating an utterly crisp finish. The entire shirt is sewn using the French seam method where the raw edges of the fabric are fully enclosed for a neater appearance. A tribute to the old tailoring traditions lies in the slight pleat of the shoulder line – a unique feature of a hand-made shirt. Gussets, triangular pieces of cloth, are sewn on both sides of the shirt, bringing more breadth to its shape and providing the uppermost level of comfort. All the gussets are personalised with the AG monogram, adding an extra touch of luxury to our shirts. The manufacturing of our shirts is the result of Angelo Galasso’s personal interest and involvement in the art of shirt-making, thorough research and innovative design combined with the years of hard work, passion and inexorable development.
